The Registered Nurse (RN) working in the GI Endoscopy practice on
Alfred 6 provides direct patient care and education for the adult
population. RNs function in two areas, Procedural and
The Procedural RN, in the endoscopy suite, works in the procedure
room alongside of the MD performing tasks and maneuvers as
delegated to them from the Endoscopist. This hands-on position
requires great technical skills as well as a vast knowledge of
anatomy and physiology. The Procedural RN plays a key role in
collaborating with the MD and other members of the health care team
to provide the best care possible to the patients.
The RN working in the Pre/Post area are responsible for completing
a focused history and patient assessment prior to their endoscopy
procedure. In this capacity, RNs will provide patient education for
endoscopic procedures; review the medical history, including the
current medication list and allergies to ensure the patient is able
to proceed with their scheduled endoscopy procedure. In recovery,
RNs are responsible for monitoring patients post-sedation. In this
capacity, RNs will continue physiologic monitoring until patient
meets discharge criteria.
This environment is fast-paced and requires attention to detail.

and the ability to function autonomously..
All RNs are trained to interpret ECG rhythms and will be expected
to attain ACLS certification within their first 3-6 months of
For New Grad Nurses: All newly graduated Registered Nurses with
less than 12 months of practice experience, hired into a scheduled
FTE Registered Nurse position on the Rochester campus of Mayo
Clinic are automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program. A
separate application or enrollment process is not required. All
nurses new to Mayo Clinic, regardless of experience, will receive
an extensive orientation program.
The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of
nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family
education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional
nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum
of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will
function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice
Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing,
evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for
assigned patients. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice
provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides
leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal
leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates
patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity,
fiscal accountability, and adequacy of resources. The RN possesses
excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and
teaching; and may participate on committees or projects. A subset
of employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle as a
part of the responsibility of their role.
This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Holders of F1 status
eligible for post-completion OPT are welcome to apply. This role is
NOT eligible to participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion
of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.
Student or graduate of a nursing program.
All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with an RN start
date of April 1, 2020 and after must provide documented evidence of
program completion of a baccalaureate degree in nursing program
within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written.) Experience
working in a team environment. Computer skills required, prior
experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work
setting. Ability to work flexible hours.

Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
Basic Cardiac Life Support for healthcare providers- BCLS
certificate of course completion required and must not expire
within 3 months after start date. A scanned copy of the certificate
of completion or transcripts, including your full name, must be
attached to your profile to be considered.

American Heart Association (Title: BLS for Healthcare Providers or
Red Cross (Title: CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care
Providers or BLS for Healthcare Providers)
