in AI to solve research questions with direct impact on clinical
practice, patient care, and the future of medicine? We are seeking
a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our multidisciplinary team
in the Division of Computational Pathology and Informatics at Mayo
Clinic. Our group is developing cutting-edge AI methods to unlock
the wealth of information embedded within gigapixel-scale pathology
images. With more than 200 million slides already digitized, Mayo
Clinic offers one of the largest and most advanced pathology
datasets in the world. This position is part of Mayo Clinic’s bold,
forward, and unbounded strategy, supported by major initiatives
from the Comprehensive Cancer Center. You will collaborate with a
large, diverse team of experts across the Departments of Artificial
Intelligence, Quantitative Health Sciences, Oncology, Surgery, and
more—all united to tackle some of the most urgent challenges in
cancer treatment. In this role, you will: • Develop and apply
advanced AI models to extract insights from digital pathology
images. • Integrate pathology data with other modalities—including
surgical notes, laboratory testing, and medical imaging—to create
multi-modal models for cancer care. • Contribute to projects that
aim to improve patient management and treatment decision-making,
with the potential to advance into clinical trials and real-world
clinical applications. • Communicate and present your research to
team members, stakeholders, and at national and international
conferences A Research Fellow in Engineering (ENG) is based on role
and responsibilities requiring Engineering skills regardless of
Ph.D. background. Main skills used in this track may include
setting up mechanical research equipment, developing experimental
protocols, biomechanics development in orthopedics, implementing
protocols, and/or providing engineering technical expertise and
analysis. Responsibilities (depending upon area of research) may
also involve use of x-ray computed tomography (CT), radiation
dosimetry, x-ray physics, and proficiency in Matlab and/or C++
programs. May work in a special engineering group, process and test
algorithms, informatics, data for computer programming, and
implement algorithms to apply to concepts, research, and clinical
applications and devices. A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a
temporary position intended to provide training and education in
research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo
Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will
demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their
training and peer-reviewed publications and should become
competitive for national research grants. Proof of English
proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research
Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by
Mayo Clinic. Qualifications • PhD in Computer Science, Biomedical
Engineering, or a related field. • Strong research experience in
advanced AI modeling for computer vision and/or natural language
processing. • Proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks
such as TensorFlow or PyTorch. • Experience with cloud computing
and/or high-performance computing (HPC) is a plus. • Excellent
communication skills to effectively share research ideas, present
findings, and collaborate with diverse teams. This is an
