The Anatomic Pathology team is looking for Histology
Technicians/Histotechnologists for 1st and 3rd shifts. As a
Histology Technician/Histotechnologist you will be a member of a
diverse, agile team responsible for preparing microscope slides for
a Pathologist to review. Using a variety of techniques and
equipment, this team prepares thin slices of tissue to make
abnormalities visible with a microscope. You will assist with the
training of students and new employees and will actively partner
with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and
respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences and
perspectives. In addition to gaining clinical laboratory

Performs a variety of technical procedures that result in the
creation of microscopic slide preparations. These technical
procedures may include: Accessioning specimens; specimen processing
and microtomy techniques; paraffin, frozen, and plastic. Technical
staining procedures include: Routine Hematoxylin and Eosin, special
stains, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemical staining, and in
situ hybridization. Participates in on-call rotations, including
weekends as needed.
The minimum pay rate for Histology Technician is $24.03 per
Prepares specimens and performs testing procedures on pathology
specimens that result in the creation of microscopic slide
preparations for diagnostic and/or prognostic analysis by the
pathologist. Applies technical theory to provide overall
operational support necessary to maintain and optimize testing
activities. Able to accommodate scheduling adjustments, off shifts,
holidays, on-call, and weekend work assignments.
The minimum pay rate for Histotechnologist is $29.37 per hour.
A two-year commitment to this position is required
Histology Technician (HT):
- Associates Degree required
- Coursework including 24 semester hours of the following:
- At least 12 credit hours in chemistry, biology, or medical
- 6 credit hours in chemistry; AND
- 6 credit hours in biology.
- Histology Technician (HT) certified by the American Society of
Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) This position is not eligible for visa
sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification; Also,
Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension
- Bachelor's Degree
- Histotechnologist (HTL) certified by the American Society of
Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Applicants needing visa sponsorship
must possess CGFNS Visa Screen certification upon application.
Graduate of a NAACLS accredited program preferred.
Graduates of the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences Histology
Technician Program will receive preference.

international equivalency for foreign degrees. DLMP employees that
have been in current lab/position for less than 2 years must attach
early release approval from supervisor

department/position for less than 1 year must attach early release
approval from supervisor
License or certification
Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) certified by the
American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP). Board of
Certification required at start date. Employees obtaining
certification(s) after January 1, 2004 will be required to
demonstrate evidence of ongoing maintenance of certification.
$24.03 - $44.09 / hour
Hours / Pay period
Histology Lab: Monday-Friday, 10:00PM-6:30AM or 3:00-11:30AM
Renal Biopsy Lab: Monday-Friday, 10:00AM-6:30PM; Rotating on-call
coverage is required.
Shift Differentials Available
Histology Lab: Occasional weekend coverage may be required.
Renal Biopsy Lab: Occasional weekend coverage may be required.
