Job Description:
Chair, Department of Pediatrics University of Rochester Medical
Center (URMC) seeks a dynamic, collaborative physician investigator
to serve as its next Chair, Department of Pediatrics, and
Physician-in-Chief (Chair, PIC), Golisano Children's Hospital
(GCH). This leader will also hold the endowed William H. Eilinger
professorship. This is an extraordinary opportunity for the next
leader to elevate research, advance the academic mission and expand
integrated pediatric clinical care across the region. URMC and UR
Medicine (the clinical enterprise) form the centerpiece of the
university's medical research, teaching, patient care and community
missions. URMC has an integrated administrative structure, budget
and strategic plan. URMC ranks among the top quarter of U.S.
medical centers in federal research funding, has an overall budget
of approximately $3.8 billion. URMC includes Strong Memorial
Hospital, an 886-bed quaternary care facility as well as GCH with
124-beds, the School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD), School of
Nursing and the Wilmot Cancer Center. The Department of Pediatrics
has a 100-year-old tradition of providing excellent pediatric care
for the Rochester region while maintaining an academic tradition of
scientific discovery and advancement. The Department is considered
one of the top public pediatrics departments in the nation, with
200 faculty, 45 residents and 50 fellows and over $9.5 million in
funding from the NIH. In fiscal year 2022, the Department cared for
nearly 6,000 inpatient admissions to GCH and over 85,000 patient
visits across eight ambulatory clinics in western New York
contributing over $65 million to operating revenues. Reporting to
the Dean of the University of Rochester SOM, Senior Vice President
for Health Sciences and CEO of URMC, the next chair will lead the
Department with a keen focus on excellence in clinical care,
research and education, while advancing the regional clinical
enterprise and philanthropic efforts to best serve children.
Candidates must hold an MD, MBChB, MBBS, DO or equivalent degree,
board certification in pediatrics and meet the qualifications for
appointment at the Professor level at URMC. For confidential
