**Position description**
The Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Patient Navigator is a liaison
between ---------------our patients and Mayo Clinic. The Patient
Navigator assists the patient and family by identifying needs and
facilitating the connection to resources to decrease barriers to
treatment and improve overall patient experience. The Patient
Navigator remains current with resource and referral information
and helps identify gaps in resources offered, working within the
community to help bridge those gaps. The Patient Navigator works
collaboratively with staff throughout Mayo Clinic and local service
providers to enhance service and referral networks. The Patient
Navigator is required to adhere to the ethical, compliance, and
regulatory standards set forth for the
enter/department/division/program and institution. Must enjoy
interacting with and serving a diverse patient population and
thrive in a rapidly-changing, fast-paced environment.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in communication,
customer service, or patient care **OR** Associates degree or other
college certificate or diploma required with six years of
experience in communication, customer service, or patient care
required.
+ Experience working with oncology patients and families
preferred.
+ Excellent organizational, communication and teamwork skills.
+ Very strong customer service skills and a proven ability to
expeditiously resolve problems.
+ Awareness of and comfortability with connecting cancer patients
and caregivers to local and national resources.
+ Must be flexible and have the ability to respond to changing
priorities and varying workloads.
+ Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. This
position is not eligible for F-1 OPT STEM extension.
**Additional qualifications**
+ Demonstrated listening and engaging skills is required.
+ Must be flexible and have the ability to respond to changing
priorities and varying workloads.
+ Experience in a medical field, managed care or similar
environment and knowledge of the Mayo system is strongly
preferred.
+ Requires effective oral and written communication skills, and the
ability to work in a complex environment with multi-dimensional
points of view.
+ The incumbent must be able to work effectively in a
consensus-style operation that expects and promotes teamwork.
+ Must be comfortable with ambiguity, exhibit good decision making
and judgment capabilities, attention to detail, and
follow-through.
+ Must possess the ability to inspire trust and confidence, and
communicate effectively with internal and external audiences.
+ Incumbent must be self-motivated, self-directed and highly
organized who will promote a productive, collegial workplace and be
a professional ambassador for Mayo Clinic.
+ Ability to prioritize work and handle a variety of tasks
simultaneously is necessary in this position.
+ Belief in the mission and strong ethical conduct is
essential.
+ Demonstrated proficiency in information technology, MS Office
products, and clinical applications.
+ An understanding of a complex healthcare system and the
philanthropic process is desirable.
+ Requires the ability to work collaboratively and professionally
to build rapport with others at all levels of responsibility.
+ Must possess effective interpersonal skills and the ability to
interact on a professional level with individuals from diverse
backgrounds.
