A. JOB SUMMARY
The Psychiatry Residency Program Director is responsible for the
planning, implementation and coordination of the psychiatry
resident training program and is accountable for the clinical
operations of the Psychiatry Residency Clinic. The Program Director
executes overall planning and direction of activities associated
with the Psychiatry Residency in order to meet the ACGME, JCAHO and
other regulatory agency requirements for resident physicians and
faculty. The Program Director provides guidance and supervision to
residents as well as residency assignments and develops training
objectives and opportunities aimed to facilitate residents'
professional and clinical growth and provide quality patient
Must be a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy and have
completed an ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical
Education) or AOA (American Osteopathic Association) accredited
residency in psychiatry.
- Must have certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and
Neurology (ABPN) or by the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology
The Program Director must have a minimum of 3 years of
experience of participating residency education, supervision,
mentoring and administration is required.
- Prior experience as program director or associate training
director is preferred but not required.
C. Special Skills & Aptitudes
The Director of the residency program must have demonstrated
ability as a teacher, clinician, and leader. The Director must be
capable of managing the program in an effective manner and be
actively involved in the care of patients including the development
of their own practice.

practice medicine in the state of Iowa prior to starting in this

American Board of Family Medicine or have suitable equivalent
qualifications as determined by the Family Medicine Review
