Smile Brands, a three-time Glassdoor Best Place to Work, is seeking a Litigation Support Coordinator to join our team. This position will assist in-house and outside counsel with a wide range of lawsuits (medical malpractice, employment and commercial), regulatory matters and investigations, and serve as liaison on such matters among counsel, the home office, field staff and affiliated dental practices. Specific accountabilities include:

  • Assist attorneys with investigations and discovery requests;
  • Assemble, organize and prepare discovery responses and other pleadings and filings;
  • Prepare, update and maintain matter and case calendars, databases, records and files;
  • Conduct document searches and factual research;
  • Assist affiliated providers and offices with responding to regulatory/ dental board complaints, subpoenas, dismissals and releases
  • Assist the affiliated offices with drafting responses to administrative inquiries
  • Conduct legal research on specific legal and regulatory topics;
  • Administer the Litigation Hold processes;
  • Serve as a liaison among in-house counsel, outside counsel, corporate offices and affiliated dental offices on litigation and other matters;
  • Coordinate the signing and distribution of various documents;
  • Provide support to the department's and company's record retention program;
  • Assist the General Counsel and other in-house attorneys on projects as assigned;
  • Timely follow-through on all work assignments;
  • Advise, communicate and uphold the company's Code of Conduct and other policies and procedures relating to the company' s standard of legal and ethical conduct;
  • Support the company's business objectives and Smiles for Everyone culture

Required Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • Healthcare and/or medical malpractice experience is required, including experience with medical record requests, review and organization;
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills; a writing sample will be required;
  • Initiative and self-motivated, ability to work independently and to take direction ;
  • 3+ years experience in a law firm or corporate legal department;
  • Extensive experience in the preparation, organization and management of litigation matters;
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and case management software;
  • A team player;
  • Ability to thrive in an environment with multiple concurrent responsibilities and deadlines.
