Primary Purpose:This position will perform on-site technical work to install and maintain computer equipment and network and software applications throughout the district. Respond to work order requests by diagnosing and repairing network and computer hardware. Distributing new equipment and cabling of existing and new sites added to the district.Minimum Qualifications:Education/Certification--- High School diploma or GED.--- Must obtain either Comptia A+ or Comptia Network+ within 1 calendar year.Experience--- One year of progressively responsible work experience in a technical support environment.Skill Requirements--- Knowledge of computer workstation setup.--- Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications.--- Ability to install, maintain and repair computers and peripherals, including printers, modem and scanners.--- Ability to travel as requiredMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Installation--- Install and upgrade computers and peripherals throughout the district.--- Install network cabling and network peripherals throughout the district.--- Relocate computer hardware, peripherals, and equipment as needed.--- Install and configure software as needed.--- Assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data communications circuits and equipment.Equipment Repair and Maintenance--- Diagnose and repair equipment, including printers, terminals, and personal computers.--- Service equipment according to established preventive maintenance schedule.--- Maintain accurate updated records of preventive maintenance.--- Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service.Technical Support--- Analyze and resolve technology issues using logic and creativity, following established procedure, and exhibiting a commitment to seeing the problem through to resolution.--- Process technology requests using help desk software and ensure issues are resolved or escalated in a timely manner.--- Respond to questions and resolve problems for users in person, via telephone, and/or remote access; Assess end-user needs and provide training as needed.--- Work cooperatively with end-users to detect and resolve hardware problems.--- Communicate with District IT personnel and software/hardware vendors to resolve end-user problems.Other--- Be customer service oriented and maintain a professional approach regarding all district matters.--- Be adaptable and flexible in acceptance of changes in techniques and procedures.--- Perform R and remain knowledgeable of emerging trends in technology and keep abreast of innovative practices.--- Attain and keep current relevant technology certifications.--- Perform special projects, after-hours support and upgrades, and other duties as assigned.--- Travel to campus locations for onsite support as required.Equipment Used:Hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable installations. Personal computers and peripherals, including scanners, routers, switches, wireless access points, modems and printers.Mental Demands:This individual should be a self-motivated starter; perform tasks with little or no supervision; maintain a proactive attitude when establishing relationships among district personnel; and maintain emotional control under stress.Physical / Environmental Factors:The physical factors described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, and the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
