MENTAL HEALTH CERTIFIED PEER SPECIALIST Dakota ACT Are you interested in assisting your peers in their mental health recovery goals? MHR is looking for you As a member of the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team you will share responsibility for the rehabilitation services and supports needed to assist each individual as they work toward their goal of recovery. This position promotes individualized recovery, self-advocacy, and a culture where the individual's preferences are integrated into treatment. In this position you will provide strengths-based education and skill-building services in a variety of areas including participating in community resources, building relationships, and encouraging community-based activities. In this position you will: Work as a team with each individual to develop plan of services and supports in areas such as housing, transportation, budgeting, hygiene appointments, relationship building, symptom management, medication administration, and obtaining/maintaining benefits Provide collaboration and education to significant others and family members who are interesting in participating in the recovery process Advocate on behalf of each individual to assure the protection of rights and privacy Provide coaching, mentoring, and consultation to individuals and their families Model recovery values, attitudes, beliefs, and personal action Assure services are provided as developed by the team in the Individual Treatment Plan Travel to meet with individuals in the community as needed Minimum Education and Experience Must be at least 21 years of age; have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent; have a primary diagnosis of mental illness; be a current or former consumer of mental health services; and have successfully completed the DHS-approved Certified Peer Specialist training and certification exam. In addition, must meet one or more of the following: Is qualified at the Mental Health Practitioner level as defined by Minnesota Statute 245.462, subdivision 17.
