35, Desk 3C (EI32, EI33, EI35) – The Family Birth Center
Mother/Baby/Antepartum unit, located on EI32, provide care and
emotional support for families experiencing high-risk pregnancy
situations. Prenatal education and support are provided on a
one-to-one basis. A maternal-fetal surveillance system interfaces
with the monitoring system in Labor and Delivery. The Mother/Baby
unit on EI32 provides couplet care, keeping mothers and babies
together 24 hours a day to promote bonding, confidence, and
collaboration in caring for oneself and baby. The 8-bassinet
newborn procedural area is located within the mother/baby unit. It
is available for medically-necessitated nursing observation of
infants, for infant exams, circumcisions, and newborn testing not
able to be done in the room. Patient Care Type: The Family Birth
Center cares for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum patients and
their newborn babies. The focus of care is family-centered
delivered through couplet care model. Bed : • EI32 – 31 • EI33 – 11
• Desk 3C – 4 Nursing Team Roles in Family Birth Center: OB/GYN
triage is located at Eisenberg Desk 3C, just off of the center
elevators. It is comprised of four triage rooms and a desk area
staffed with nurses and a health unit coordinator. Patients and
family members start here to determine labor or assist with
complications. Family and visitors receive passes and direction to
patient rooms. The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the
coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care,
patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports
professional nursing practice across practice settings and across
the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family.
The RN will function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional
Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning,
implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing
care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of
Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN
provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role,
informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement
efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level,
experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability
of resources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills; is
skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on
committees or projects. A subset of employees may be required to
drive their personal vehicle as a part of the responsibility of

certification. Qualifications Graduate of a nursing program, as
recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing
(ACEN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), National
League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation
(NLN CNEA). One year of RN experience required. All entry-level
associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date of April 1,
2020, and after must provide documented evidence of program
completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an
accredited nursing program within five years from the last day of
the month of the RN start date. Additional Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience
working in a team environment. Computer skills required, prior
experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings,
nights, holidays, and weekends and on-call. Ability to adapt to
unpredictable situations within the work setting. Demonstrated
leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking
skills. Internal applicants are required to attach their three most
recent performance appraisals. 1 year professional RN experience
required License and Certification (Must obtain prior to start
date): Current RN license by applicable state requirements. BLS
(Basic Life Support) must be valid for 90 days post start date;
acceptable certifications include: American Heart Association
(AHA)/ Heartcode® BLS, Military Training Network, Red Cross
(CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers).
Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty
certification/training as required by the work area. Exemption

$42.84 - $70.41. Mayo Clinic has an innovative nursing compensation
