your future. Responsibilities A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a
temporary position intended to provide training and education in
research. Individuals will train under principal investigator Eoin
P. Flanagan, M.B., B.Ch. and will collaborate with the Multiple
Sclerosis (MS) team at the Mayo Clinic Center for MS and Autoimmune
Neurology. The primary focus of the fellowship will be on research
related to Radiologically Isolated Syndrome (RIS) and MS. The
fellow will be responsible for developing and validating risk
models for RIS and typical MS onset by integrating germline
variants, clinical data, and environmental factors. Additionally,
the fellow will collect and analyze clinical data from electronic
medical records and document environmental factors. The role also
involves comparing the clinical characteristics of individuals with
RIS and MS to age-matched controls and measuring the association of
baseline patient characteristics. About CMSAN: The vision for CMSAN
is to accelerate translational discovery and usher in a new era of
“cure and precure” by leveraging the center’s biorepository and
Mayo’s Precure initiative to identify at-risk individuals before
symptoms appear, enabling earlier interventions such as
biomarker-guided treatments and vaccine trials. The CMSAN
priorities include expanding decentralized, multi-site clinical
trials across Mayo Clinic, advancing innovative therapies,
strengthening partnerships with industry and advocacy groups,
deepening collaborations across campuses and globally, building an
AI-driven data infrastructure, and recruiting and mentoring the
next generation of clinician-scientists. Qualifications • Must have
a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed
relevant by the program. Research Fellow is appropriate for
individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral
fellowship, at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere. • The ideal Applicants
will have a strong background in neurology, epidemiology, or
related fields, experience with large data sets and clinical
research, familiarity with genetic risk scores and statistical
modeling, and excellent analytical and communication skills. •
Applicants must demonstrate a strong publication record and present
a clear career development plan in multiple sclerosis (MS)
research. • Applicants are required to submit a research proposal
(1–2 pages) that clearly articulates the project’s hypothesis,
specific aims, innovation, significance, and any collaborative
components. The proposal must also include a statement detailing
how the fellowship will facilitate your career advancement and
support the generation of preliminary data for future grant
applications. Include a training plan that highlights your unique
qualifications and contributions to MS research. • Proof of English
