Responsibilities
The Specimen Distribution Team - Mayo Collaborative Services (MCS) has an opening for a laboratory assistant. As a laboratory assistant you will be a member of an agile team, responsible for preparation, documentation, and shipping. You will actively partner with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. Additional responsibilities include clerical and processing duties, maintaining inventory supply, filing, stocking, receiving shipments, and cleaning.

Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship; Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
Qualifications
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent to be considered for this position.
Additional Qualifications

• DLMP/MCS employees that have been in their current lab/position for less than 2 years must attach an early release approval from their supervisor.
• You must include a cover letter and resume to be considered for this position.
• Internal applicants must attach your three (3) most recent performance appraisals to be considered for this position
• Flexibility

• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to stay organized, prioritize, and shift gears in a busy environment.
• Conscientious of details and strict safety requirements for handling chemicals, reagents, and infectious agents.
• Knowledge of laboratory functions and medical terminology preferred.
• Science background preferred.
• 1-2 years medical experience preferred.
• Experience with computers, keyboarding, and telephone operations preferred.

  Required education, experience, tenure, and internal equity will be considered when job offers are extended. The pay range for Laboratory Assistant is $17.20 - $23.09 per hour.
