Position description
Non - Exempt position. Cytotechnologists provide diagnostic
services for both gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens in
accordance with departmental procedures and policies. This includes
the screening and reporting of negative gynecological and
non-gynecological cytology cases, and identifying and referring
abnormal cases to the pathologists. Must maintain follow-up records
on all abnormal gynecological specimens as well as maintain records
of daily activities and number of hours screened. May perform
quality control activities. May participate in additional
activities in the lab that may include but are not limited to: Work
in the other departments such as molecular, microbiology or
histology. Serves as a member of the Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA)
and procedure collection team providing on site collection
assistance, dissection (renal) and adequacy evaluation of
procedures under the guidance of the Pathologist. Provide technical
advice, and primary coverage to the preparation and processing area
as needed. Assist Pathologists and management personnel with the
gathering of data relevant to quality assurance activities,
continuous improvement activities and/or special projects.
A two-year commitment to this position is required
Shift Differential is paid for off shift hours worked(ex. Pms,
nocs, weekends).
Relocation is offered to those relocating 70 miles or greater.
Qualifications
Baccalaureate Degree in Cytotechnology or Baccalaureate Degree with
completion of a CAHEA Cytotechnology program. Possess good written
and oral communication skills, the ability to prioritize work,
manage time wisely and adjust to changes in work volumes and
projects.
Applicants needing visa sponsorship must possess CGFNS Visa Screen
certification upon application. Must Attach Certification to
profile. Holders of F1 status eligible for post-completion OPT are
NOT subject to the federal Visa Screen requirements and are welcome
to apply.
Additional qualifications
Experience using databases, spreadsheets, and word-processing
software, preferred.
Requires CV/Resume, unofficial transcript(s), and for foreign
trained lab personnel to provide a detailed equivalency evaluation
to include US equivalent degree at the applicants expense.
For international/foreign trained applicants, it is the
responsibility of the international/foreign to provide to Mayo
Clinic the following information. The applicant is responsible for
the cost associated with obtaining the equivalency evaluation.

License or certification
Cytotechnology (CT, ASCP) or Specialist in Cytotechnology (SCT,
ASCP) certification required prior to start date. Employees
obtaining CT certification(s) after January 1, 2004 or SCT
certification after January 1, 2006 will be required to demonstrate
evidence of ongoing maintenance of certification.
