vary.Position descriptionLocation: Nasseff Tower 4A/B (NT4A/B),
Heart Rhythm and Interventional ServicesPatient Care Type: This is
a medical cardiovascular interventional monitored unit. The
majority of the patient population consists of patients undergoing
procedures for known cardiac disease or disorders including:
PCI/stent, valvuloplasty, ablations, temporary or permanent
pacemakers, implantable defibrillators, PFO closures, and atrial
septal defect repair who do not require the ICU setting. Other
procedural patients may come to ET4A/B as well, including carotid
or peripheral artery stenting. These patients are medically managed
by interventional and inpatient cardiology services as directed by
the Cardiac Lab and Heart Rhythm physicians. Their length of stay
is approximately 24-48 hours with high acuity the first 12 hours
post- procedure. In addition, ET4A/B cares for other cardiovascular
medical admit patients. Patients initiated and maintained on IV
medication therapy (epoprostenol/Treprostinil) for pulmonary
hypertension will be assigned to ET4A/B.Bed #: 24The Health Unit
Coordinator (HUC) provides organizational, receptionist, and
clerical support to patient care units and the health care team.
These duties may include monitoring and ordering supplies, and
assisting the care team with managing orders in the electronic
health record (EHR). Communicates effectively via a variety of
modalities with patients, visitors, and facility staff and plays an
integral role in communication across the continuum of care.
Functions as a resource to members of the health care team and is
familiar with multiple Mayo Clinic resources. The HUC activities
complement the patient care delivery model. Carries out all aspects
of the job using good judgment and problem-solving skills, strong
interpersonal skills, and assumes responsibility for
self-development within the role and participates in continuous
improvement activities. Supports the healthcare team by
anticipating and responding to team requests and patient
needs.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required.
Basic knowledge of computer systems and strong keyboarding skills
(i.e., Windows-based applications, LAN use, and intranet/internet
use) required.Additional qualificationsSuccessful completion of HUC
post-secondary program, or HUC Certification preferred. Minimum of
one year working experience in a medical environment preferred.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred. Preferred
proficiency of computer skills. Working knowledge with EHR systems,
EPIC preferred. Outstanding customer service, interpersonal and
organizational skills. Adapts effectively to unpredictable
situations within the patient care setting. Availability to work
flexible hours including days, evenings, nights, weekends and
