Position description
Location: The Surgical Services' Patient Care Assistant will be
hired to work at either the Saint Marys Hospital or Rochester
Methodist Hospital Campus. Schedules will be discussed during the
interview process.
The Patient Care Assistant assists patient care unit staff with
delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care, which support
nursing practice under the direct supervision of a registered
nurse. Carries out designated activities that are within those
functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel.
Qualifications
Must be 18 years old.

Additional qualifications
Completion of 12 college credits -OR- High school diploma/ GED with
successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent
preferred. Able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the
patient care setting.
License or certification
If a candidate does not currently have their Basic Life Support for
Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American
Heart Association or American Red Cross the Basic Life Support,
certification will be included as part of the orientation program.
Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from
one of the following programs: American Heart Association or
American Red Cross

Compensation Detail
Minimum rate is $18.18 based upon union contract.

60-80 hours every 2 weeks
Schedule details
Variable schedule including days/evenings/nights and either 8 or 12
hour shifts
Weekend schedule
May be weekend and holiday expectations and/or no weekend depending
on business needs. Discussion about current openings will take
place during interview.
