Job DescriptionShifts: 24 hour shifts. Sunday-Saturday rotating days, weekends, and holidays, Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department.Mitchell County EMS is a Critical Care Paramedic transport service owned by MCRHC, a Level 4 critical access hospital. We respond to approximately 1100 calls each year including 911 and inter-facility transfers. We provide 911 ALS coverage to all of Mitchell County including Paramedic intercepts. Our inter-facility transfers are predominantly to MMCNI, (31 miles), and Mayo in Rochester, (61 miles). We also help with patients in the Emergency Department when needed.Benefits include: flexible schedule, protected class IPERS pension, furnished uniforms, call bonus, transfer bonus, yearly cost of living raises.   • At least 21 years old with an insurable driving record.JOB SUMMARYThe position reports to the Director of Emergency Medical Services and functions so as to support the policies and procedures of the Emergency Services Department and the Mitchell County Regional Health Center. This position also helps with patient care in the Critical Access Emergency Department.The EMT role responds to emergency and non-emergency requests, providing Basic Life Support (BLS) as needed, and transports sick or injured persons to the appropriate medical facility. The EMT may work with a Paramedic or other EMS personnel. The EMT complies with appropriate state of Iowa Department of Public Health Standards and regulations. The EMT adheres to MCEMS/MCRHC values and operates as an extension of the organization.Qualifications: Current state of Iowa EMT certification or NREMT certification. Current BLS certification card. Preference for NREMT certification. BLS instructor a plus. Previous healthcare or ambulance experience preferred. Current Driver's License in good standing.
