Birchlawn Place Counseling Center, INC is seeking a pediatric
occupational therapist to join a busy and growing community-based
private practice providing services and support to children,
adolescents, and families living with sensory challenges and/or an
array of mental health needs.At Birchlawn Place Counseling Center,
INC we fully acknowledge that occupational performance difficulties
due to sensory modulation challenges or poor integration of
sensation can result from difficulties in how the nervous system
receives, organizes, and uses sensory information from the body and
the physical environment for self-regulation, motor planning, and
skill development. These problems impact self-concept, emotional
regulation, attention, problem solving, behavior control, skill
performance, and the capacity to develop and maintain interpersonal
relationships. Occupational Therapists at Birchlawn Place
Counseling Center, INC will explain the physiological and emotional
impact of impaired sensory processing to primary caregivers in
ongoing parent education. While concurrently providing dynamic,
responsive, and individualized occupational therapy to children and
adolescents. Whether working with toddlers or adolescents our
therapy at Birchlawn Place Counseling Center, INC is family
centered. We integrate sensory and relationship-based methods with
a focus on self-regulation. Occupational therapy services provided
at Birchlawn Place Counseling Center, INC have a strong focus on
relationship building between the occupational therapist, clients,
and the clients' families with a focus that integrates an array of
strategies for supporting the whole child and family
system.Requirements:
- Masters or doctorate degree in occupational therapy.
- Sensory processing certification or credential and/or extensive
training and continued education in sensory processing.
- Minimum of three years experience providing occupational
therapy.
- Minimum of one year experience providing occupational therapy
to children.
- Current Minnesota Occupational Therapist license.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical activity (crawling,
jumping, lifting, climbing, etc.) for multiple consecutive hours
during each workday.
- Desire and skill to collaborate with a multidisciplinary
team.
- Efficient, organized, and accurate.
- Ability to direct self in prioritizing work, attending to
demands, and problem-solving.
- Clear, direct, and compassionate communication skills with
children and adults.
- Commitment to serving diverse families with responsive and
culturally competent care.
