Position description
The Department of Orthopedic surgery is seeking a nurse
practitioner or physician assistant to join the Podiatry team. The
NP or PA will function independently in an outpatient clinical
practice setting to provide foot and nail care to Mayo Clinic
patients in designated Rochester campus locations. Job
responsibilities include diabetic and high risk foot evaluations,
toenail trimming/debridement, toenail avulsion, corn/callus paring,
wart treatment including cryotherapy, and foot care education.
Providers also will make recommendations regarding footwear and
orthotics.
A foot care certification course will be required (can be obtained
once hired).
The opportunity exists for expanding scope of practice to include
evaluation and nonsurgical treatment of foot and ankle
disorders.
Qualifications
Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of Nurse
Practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN license and
certification as a APRN.
Or graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current
PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota
State Board of Medical Practice.
Must be eligible for DEA registration.

Additional qualifications
Previous podiatry experience preferred and one to two years of
clinical and/or surgical experience preferred.
Completion of BLS course required and ACLS preferred. Consultant
specific training will be provided.
Ability to problem-solve, work independently, and assume
responsibility for inpatient/outpatient interaction. Excellent
interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills for effective
interactions with patients, family members, and colleagues in
multiple disciplines. Strong organizational and time management
skills are essential.
License or certification
