Job Description Description JOB SUMMARY: Provide leadership to all operations, functions, and employees of the plant. Create environment of respect and responsibility through professional communication, accountability, budget consciousness, team work, quality, safety and security. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time. 1.Administers plans and directs plant operations while continually striving for improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs. 2.Works within approved budget while developing and implementing cost saving measures which will contribute to overall profits and revenue to the organization. **** responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of plant operations. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 4.Develops strategies to achieve organizational goals and adapts strategy to changing conditions. 5.Manages competing demands and changes approach or method to best fit the situation. 6.Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner by gathering and analyzing information skillfully. Works well in group problem solving situations and develops alternative solutions. 7.Creates a positive team with the ability to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives. 8.Ability to manage projects by creating workable plans; communicates changes effectively and builds commitment and overcomes resistance. 9.Understands business implications of decisions while displaying an orientation to profitability. 10.Develops realistic action plans, by prioritizing and planning work activities. Plans for additional resources as needed. 11.Includes staff in planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement. Makes oneself available to staff, provides regular performance feedback, develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth. 12.Ability to react well under pressure. Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position. REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: The following are required competencies of the position that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job: *Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills *Ability to adapt effectively within a continually changing and demanding environment *Demonstrate an understanding of the products manufactured and the processes involved *Basic understanding of equipment operations and minor troubleshooting ability *Must be able to demonstrate an ability and willingness to communicate effectively in order to maintain high levels of Safety, Quality and Efficiency *Ability to read and comprehend standard operating procedures and company guidelines in order to maintain regulatory compliance *Ability to understand daily production needs *Able to read and comprehend standard operating procedures *Lead in a team environment safely *Detail oriented, be quality minded *Able to perform at a high level in a fast paced environment EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: *Bachelor's degree in food science, manufacturing or similar areas preferred. *Five years' experience in dairy or food production, manufacturing, industrial process operations or equivalent combination of education and experience required. *Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements preferred. *Three years of supervisory experience required. *To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office including, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. *High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), required *Knowledge of SQF, HACCP, GMP's, OSHA and loss control programs is highly desirable PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. *Work Environment - Employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock, wet work conditions, fumes or airborne participles. Employee is frequently exposed to refrigerated or warm temperatures. Employee is regularly exposed to chemicals during sanitation processes. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. *Protective Equipment - Personal protective equipment is required depending on the job being performed, including protective eye wear, or face shields, hearing protection, hair and beard nets, uniforms, and boots. Additional equipment is required working with chemicals, such as rubber gloves and use of chemical proof aprons as appropriate for job being performed.
