Position Summary
The Home Health Executive Director is responsible for modeling the 3 Company values of Compassion, Integrity, and Excellence, and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of success as the foundation. S/he is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the Company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders. The Home Health Executive Director oversees and manages the day to day operations of the program, is a positive motivator for colleagues, patients and the community. Works in union with regional vice president to ensure a quality business operation.
Position Specific Responsibilities

  • Hands on leader who supervises, and provides coaching and education for staff.
  • Fills in for any position in the program as needed.
  • Reviews profit and loss statements, anticipates any risks to the business line, and meets and exceeds budgetary control.
  • Explores resources of revenue improvement and expense reduction.
  • Works in conjunction with DCS, DOR and SD for growth strategies.
  • Works as a community care consultant in conjunction with SD and/or HHCC's.
  • Maintains a positive image in the community.
  • Creates and reviews year strategic plan.
  • Responsible for setting program objectives and delivering results from all Compassus pillars.
  • Responsible for all day to day operations.
  • Maintains low service failure occurrences and/or handles service failures as a extreme priority.
  • Maintains high patient and colleague satisfaction.
  • Partners with Human Resources as appropriate in recruitment, hiring, discipline, and discharges to ensure legality and consistency with policies and procedures.
  • Creates a positive climate in which each Colleague feels highly valued, involved, and engaged; productivity is fostered; quality and service are promoted; and our "employer-of-choice" reputation is advanced
  • Champions regular, effective communications in one-on-one and group settings, using both listening and speaking skills to promote deeper understanding, collaborative problem solving, and team effort towards a common goal, thereby optimizing Colleague engagement and retention.
  • Maintains policies, procedures and licensures in accordance with the company, Federal and State requirements.
  • Reviews daily operating reports.
  • Runs daily morning stand up and management meetings.
  • Integrates change management strategy when planning changes.
  • Complete reporting as needed for month end close, or other purposes.
  • Reviews patient satisfaction survey results.
  • Completes program score cards monthly.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function.
  • Make or delegate post-admissions calls.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or a related Human Services field is strongly preferred.
    • Two (2) years' experience in the healthcare industry is required.
    • Total of five (5) years supervisory experience required. Skills
      • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
      • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, colleagues, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications.
      • Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Articulates and embraces hospice philosophy. State Specific Requirements
        Connecticut
        • The administrator of an agency shall be a person with one of the following: (1) A master's degree in nursing with an active license to practice nursing in this state and at least one year of supervisory or administrative experience in a health care facility program which included care of the sick; or (2) A master's degree in public health or administration with a concentration of study in health services administration, and at least one year of supervisory or administrative experience in a health care facility/program which included care of the sick; or (3) A baccalaureate degree in nursing with an active license to practice nursing in this state and at least two years supervisory or administrative experience in a health care facility/program which included care of the sick; or (4) A baccalaureate degree in administration with a concentration of study in health services administration and at least two years' supervisory or administrative experience in a health care facility/program which included care of the sick; or (5) A physician licensed to practice medicine and surgery in the State of Connecticut who has had at least one year supervisory or administrative experience in a health care facility/program which included care of the sick. Massachusetts
          • Two (2) years of relevant experience in the health care, human services or related fields, which shall include at least one year of supervisory/administrative experience. Mississippi
            • A licensed physician or licensed RN or BSW or Bachelor's degree with two (2) years' management or one (1) year in healthcare management and three (3) years in healthcare service delivery. Exception: hired prior to 2008. New Hampshire
              • Bachelor's degree in business or health-related field with one (1) year of home health experience; or be a registered nurse. South Carolina
                • A college degree with three (3) years' experience in a health-related field within the last five (5) years. Tennessee
                  • Training and/or experience in healthcare administration with one (1) year of supervision in home health, home health, or related healthcare. Texas
                    • A licensed MD or a licensed RN or licensed Social Worker or licensed therapist or licensed nursing home administrator, all with one (1) year of experience in healthcare management; OR a high school diploma or GED, with at least two (2) years of experience in healthcare management.

There will be possible exposure to infectious diseases through working with clinical caregivers. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

                      Estimated salary range $80000 - $130000 / year. Actual salary will vary by geographic location and experience.
