is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to add to its
growing product development team to help lead growth of our core
engine driven centrifugal pump and fire markets, while expanding
into high growth adjacent markets. This Job is located in Chippewa
Falls, WI.

Summary/Objective
The Sr. Mechanical Engineer position works in a team-oriented
environment, closely with marketing, sales, end users and other
departments to design new products and support existing products.
The position requires strong technical skills, keen business
acumen, a developed good understanding of the fire industry, and
can identify and bring to market new products that better serve our
customers while driving business growth. This position requires
minimal direct supervision and works closely and strategically with
the Chief Engineer, Engineering Manager and/or other Sr. Level
Engineers.
Essential Functions
--- Designs and brings new products to market that meet cost,
timeframe, DFM, DFA and reliability expectations.
--- Seeks ways to promote sales and customer value. Generates new
product proposals and/or product enhancements to senior management
and OEMs. Proposals shall include project scope, deliverables,
budget, timeline, cost targets, resource plan, risks and abatements
and ROI.
--- Supports existing products which may include cost reduction,
performance improvement or design changes due to purchased
component or material obsolescence.
--- Leads cross-functional teams during project execution. Utilizes
MS Project and may direct one or more junior level engineers
assigned to the project.
--- 3-D modeling and drawing creation in SOLIDWORKS, Creo and
occasionally AutoCAD for legacy products.
--- Conducts detailed design reviews which include cost rollups,
hydraulic analysis, tolerance stack ups, validation test results
and mechanics of materials calculations that may include FEA.
--- Represents Darley at trade shows and accompanies sales when
visiting customers to support with technical questions and
discussing new product ideas.
--- Generates Engineering Change Orders of drawings and bills of
materials and coordinates the implementation.
--- Authors product bulletins, operation, and service manuals.
--- Seeks out and implements changes in a team setting to processes
and/or procedures within the department that improve operational
efficiency and effectiveness.
--- Conducts After Action team reviews either at the end of a
project or throughout a project to incorporate lessons learned.
--- Develops test plans for product development and design
validation. Oversees lab testing and documents summary of testing
results and conclusions.
--- Strictly adheres to ISO 9001 Quality process.
Other Responsibilities
--- Works closely with Operations and hands-on with supporting
prototype assembly, validation testing.
--- Occasionally assists other departments with customer support,
applications, and field service visits.
Competencies
--- Strong proficiency with mechanics of materials, fluid mechanics
and design of machine elements.
--- In-depth understanding of manufacturing technology involving
castings and high precision machined components.
--- Solid understanding of DFM, DFA and statistics.
--- High proficiency with creating detailed drawings and applying
GD&T.
--- Effective time and task management. Can prioritize, navigate,
and complete multiple tasks, assignments, and projects
simultaneously.
--- Exercise good judgment, technical insight into problems,
ability to handle ambiguity while completing job assignments.
--- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all
levels within the company and directly with customers.
--- A strong business acumen, strong leadership skills and ability
to influence.
--- Professional, demonstrated maturity and the ability to use tact
and diplomacy.
Required Education and Experience
--- Experience developing centrifugal pumps preferred.
--- Experience with the fire industry preferred.
--- Experience with designing gears preferred.
--- Experience with Ansys CFX preferred.
--- 6 Sigma Blackbelt preferred.
--- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an
accredited college or university.
--- Master's degree in mechanical engineering preferred.
--- Experience with 3D Modeling/ Assembly using SOLIDWORKS, Creo,
or other CAD software.
--- 8-10 years' experience developing new products.
