products.To design, analyze, test and complete drawing to
facilitate the production of specialty vehicle bodies, cranes and
other products.Essential Functions:
- Design new products to revise current products to meet market
demand.
- Design new products to support marketing demands. Review
parameters, design CD models, verify functions, perform FEA
analysis, and verify compliance.
- Review current product design changes to ensure customer
satisfaction and structural integrity. Verify fit, form and
function, FEA analysis, and manufacturability.
- Test products to ensure customer satisfaction and code
compliance. Write test procedures, perform tests and write reports
with results.
- Oversee prototype build to verify concept product. Line up
resources, investigate manufacturing issue and make decisions on
changes.
- Review nonconformance of parts to help minimize cost without
sacrificing customer expectation. Investigate form, fit and
function. Assure structural integrity and customer
satisfaction.Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist in maximizing efficiency techniques of current designs
and research ways to improve existing systems.
- Analyze parts for strength and durability.
- Provide technical guidance or training to others assigned to
work on a common project.
- Provide technical support to Sales, Manufacturing, Purchasing,
Marketing, Customer Support and Service.
- Other special duties as assigned.Knowledge, skills and
abilities:
- Must be able to prioritize duties and complete tasks according
to set guidelines.
- Requires high level attention to detail.
- Ability to perform repetitive data entry function.
- Thorough understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous
improvement processes.
- Compliance with FMVSS standards and ISO guidelines.
- Able to work independently as well as in with members of a
team.Education or Experience:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical
Engineering o related engineering discipline required. 3D modeling,
2D computer drafting, finite element analysis using computer
software, FEA analysis and knowledge of manufacturing processes
desired. A minimum of 3 years related work experience
required.Physical & Mental Requirements:
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to make accurate decisions in a timely manner.
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds on a regular basis.
