Job Description Volunteers of America National Services is
seeking an Healthcare Controller to join our team. This role will
manage and direct the accounting department, and direct the
preparation and interpretation of financial reports, provide and
implement efficient and effective accounting policies & procedures.
/n Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (Hybrid 3 days onsite, 2
days work from home) /n Location: 7485 Office Ridge Cir, Eden
Prairie, MN 55344 /n Salary: $122,600-$157,700 /n About the Job: To
manage and direct the accounting department, manage and direct the
preparation and interpretation of financial reports, provide and
implement efficient and effective accounting policies & procedures.
/n Essential Functions: /n Manage and direct the accounting
department, specifically providing direct feedback and support for
the following positions: /n /n - Senior Accounting Manager- PACE /n
- Senior Accounting Manager- Healthcare /n - Accounting Manager /n
/n Manage and direct the accounting function for Volunteers of
America National Services and its subordinate corporations (“
VOANS”), which includes the following lines of business: /n /n -
Skilled nursing facilities /n - Assisted and independent living
facilities /n - Home health agencies /n - PACE programs /n - Senior
nutrition program /n - Housing and healthcare real estate
development /n - Corporate entities, including a Foundation /n /n
Oversee the preparation of monthly financial statements and
supporting working papers to include: /n /n - Provide oversight and
leadership in the compilation of the monthly financial statements
for VOANS inn accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting
Principles (“GAAP”) /n - All asset, liability, and net assets
accounts /n - Select income and expense accounts /n - Ratio
analyses /n - Additional analyses of significant estimates (ex:
allowance for credit losses, PACE IBNR reserves) /n - Research and
document applicable accounting principles and standards /n /n Work
collaboratively with the Vice President- Finance and Administration
and the Director of Healthcare Finance in managing and directing
the following VOANS business Cycles: /n /n - Financial Reporting
Cycle /n - Budget Cycle /n - Cash Management / Treasury Cycle /n /n
Provide support on financial and accounting matters to our clients
to include: /n /n - The accurate interpretation of financial
information /n - Timely responses to requests for assistance /n -
Provide departmental assistance with questions relating to payroll,
budget to actual reports, and general ledger /n /n Provide support
on business office process to include: /n /n - Establish and
maintain policies and procedures for business office functions /n -
Training and on-going support for the Accounts Payable, Payroll,
Cash Management and Resident Trust functions of the facility
business offices /n - Routine compliance audits of business office
functions /n - Interim staff coverage for vacancies in business
office staff positions /n /n Support the Director of Healthcare
Finance regarding operational and outside party financial reporting
requirements: /n /n - Assist with the monthly financial reporting
for VOANS to the Executive Management team /n - Manage and direct
the monthly reporting to the Area Agency on Aging for the Senior
Nutrition program /n - Monitor regulatory changes in reporting
requirements /n - Assist with the financial reporting requirements
of outside parties, to include government agencies, banks, bond
holders and other lending agencies, grantees, and other agencies as
required /n - Assist with monitoring and testing VOANS compliance
with any financial covenants on at least a quarterly basis /n -
Assist with the annual financial audit, including work paper and
support documentation, research accounting reporting requirements,
preparation of fourteen (14) audit reports, including required
disclosures /n - Assist with the annual Form 990 preparation and
filing for the > 20 healthcare corporations /n - Prepare
additional financial reports as required by management, creditor(s)
or other outside sources /n /n Other Responsibilities: /n /n -
Manage and oversee preparation of annual cost reports /n - Manage
and oversee preparation of annual PACE Part D bids /n - Maintain
surety bonds for resident trust and unemployment accounts /n -
Maintain appropriate user access for general ledger software /n -
Maintain Square software and access for three (3) programs /n -
Complete required routine and ad hoc governmental surveys /n - Work
collaboratively with the Payroll Manager to maintain unemployment
accounts and ensure timely payment of reimbursable charges /n /n /n
Required Qualifications: /n /n - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting,
Finance, or related business field /n - Ten (10) years’ minimum
experience in accounting field, of which five (5) years is in
healthcare accounting, with five (5) in a management capacity /n -
CPA is desired /n - A passion for learning in a multifaceted,
complex organization /n - Exhibit initiative, teamwork, flexibility
and leadership /n - Ability to maintain positive attitude and
approach towards assignments /n - Highly detail-oriented,
outstanding organizational skills and ability to manage multiple,
competing deadlines /n - Ability to conduct and understand complex
financial models of business problems /n - Excellent written and
verbal communication skills /n - Proficiency with Microsoft Office
including Outlook, Word, Excel /n - Ability to work flexible Travel
